Cancer Support Community East Tennessee Hires Lori Friel as Development and Communications Mannager

Cancer Support Community East Tennessee (CSCET) welcomes Lori Friel as the new Development and Communications Manager. Friel, who previously was with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), brings 15 years of fundraising experience. Prior to LLS, she worked at First Horizon (formerly First Tennessee Bank), in Corporate Communications and Marketing for 11 years.

“We are thrilled to have Lori join the team at CSCET and her expertise in fundraising and compassion for supporting people with cancer aligns with our mission,” said Beth Hamil, Executive Director. “Lori’s ability to build relationships and make people feel comfortable will not only grow our donor base but also ensure we serve more people impacted by cancer.”

Friel will be responsible for raising funds, to ensure that CSCET has the financial resources to continue delivering educational, mindful and supportive services, at no charge to people with cancer and their loved ones, as well as raising awareness of programs and events. She will represent CSCET at community functions, be responsible for the newsletter, promotional materials for fundraising and community events. She will also oversee “The Art of Survivorship; Fall Luncheon and Silent Auction”, as well as “Good Vibrations”, a benefit concert.

Friel, who attended the University of Tennessee, has a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication. She and her husband live in Knoxville and have two daughters. CSCET is a local nonprofit whose mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities and breaking down barriers to care.
