Second generation realtor Laura Slyman started her career in real estate after earning a B.S. and an M.B.A. in marketing at the University of Tennessee. My father, Jim Slyman, started Slyman Real Estate in 1971,” said Laura. “In 2007, we expanded, and my dad focused 100% on Slyman Auction, and I took over Slyman Real Estate. Today we have over 30 agents specializing in residential and commercial real estate. Slyman Real Estate differentiates by being the only company that requires three years’ full-time real estate experience.”

An award winning realtor, Laura is licensed and accredited: Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Real Estate Specialist (CRS) Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI); she has a both a Brokers License and an Auctioneers License, being one of the few female auctioneers in the state of Tennessee. She is consistently ranked in the top 1% of all realtors within Knoxville Area Association of Realtors (over 4000 agents) for sales volume.

In an industry where we have well over 4000 realtors, many of whom are not full-time and not trained, a growing challenge is professionalism. All agents are not created equally. There are very low standards to obtain a real estate license, and more and more people are obtaining their license as a hobby or second job.”

“I strongly believe in giving back,” said Laura. “To that end, I have served on numerous committees, served on the Board of Directors for years and most recently was the 2018 President of the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors.”
