Blessing of the Pets at ESK

Hundreds of pets receive blessings from clergy members each year here at the Episcopal School of Knoxville. This year, on October 4th, we saw a wide range of pets including dogs, cats, chickens, horses, snakes and rats.

This annual event is done in honor of Saint Frances of Assisi. Saint Francis is well known for his many miracles involving animals and his compassion for healing the critically ill and injured. It also gives our students an opportunity to share their pets with their classmates and friends. Shortly after all of the animals received blessings, our Kindergarten class gathered their food donations and dropped them off at the Fish Hospitality Pantries.
